towels sizes
standard bath towel
Essential for drying off after bathtime, this towel is the first on your must-have list. Three sets is suggested, to have some on hand when others or dirty or in the wash. 22" x 42" to 30" x 54"
guest bath towel
It is customary to have a set of towels for your guests to use, which can match your own set or not. Be sure to include a hand towel and a washcloth in this set as well. It's best to have more than one set for guests on hand, just in case. Same as bath towel
hand towel
Usually hung by the sink, this towel is used for smaller projects like drying your hands or face. Again, multiple sets suggested. 16" x 30"
washcloth
This is the only towel that is generally used when wet, either in the shower or by the sink. Typical use is for washing the face. Because of this, the washcloth gets dirty fast, so buy a few extra. 12" x 12"
bath sheet
An oversized bath towel, this is a total luxury to wrap yourself in after a shower or bath. Also great for the beach and the pool. 36" x 72"
european bath towel
An alternative to the extra large bath sheet, the European bath sheet is extra wide but not as long. 48" x 60"
fingertip towel
A must-have for the bathroom countertop for guests, fingertip towels are most often made of terry cloth. It's traditional to set out three at once. Also known as powder-room towels. 11" x 18"

accessories
terry cloth bathrobe
A little luxury after bathtime, especially for those who always feel cold, the terry robe is a delight to slip into to finish drying off. It's also nice to have a matching his-and-hers set, complete with monograms.
towel mitt
A small pouch that fits on your hand in the shower or bath, this can conveniently replace the washcloth for use in sudsing up.
bath rug
Functional and fashionable, the bath rug prevents slips and falls on the wet tile floor, while adding a great decorative element to your space. Many textures are available, from fuzzy faux fur to long, nubby terry. Many companies offer bath rugs to either match or complement your towel selection.
extra shower curtain and rings
As shower curtains go, two curtains are often suggested: the plastic liner on the inside to keep the water in the shower, and a more decorative fabric curtain to hang outside. If you prefer however, you can stick with a single plastic version. You'd be surprised how quickly shower curtains can get mildewy and old, so you may want to keep a second set on hand.
